A Commencement Notice is required to give notice to Building Control Authorities of the erection of such buildings, or classes of buildings, or the carrying out of such works, or classes of works, as may be specified in the regulations.
You must submit a commencement notice through the National Building Control Management System before you start building work for which you have received planning permission.
To apply for a Commencement Notice each party (owner, designer, builder and assigned certifier) to the notice must first register with the Building Control Management System - BCMS.
