Arts and Cultural Diversity Initiatives

Local authorities may run national day celebrations and arts activities with new communities to promote and celebrate cultural diversity and integration through the arts.

Carlow Arts Service works in partnership with a number of local community organisations and services that supports cultural diversity and social inclusion across the arts.  These include local migrant services, traveller services, social inclusion services, third level education institutes and arts organisations across the county in order to promote and support and celebrate Cultural Diversity in all its forms and to create access to the arts for all.

Carlow African Film Festival the first African Film Festival of Ireland was established in Carlow in 2005. It is now independently managed.

Local Nigerian resident Ade Oke originally founded it along with Sinead Dowling, Arts Officer Carlow County Council, local film enthusiast Mags Murphy and local writer Dave Donohue.
