How to Join

Carlow Central Library

Library Membership is free of charge for all. Please remember to bring your library card with you when you visit the library. If you have lost your library card, we can give you a new one free of charge. Remember to set a library PIN for your card to gain access to your online account.  All applicants over 18 must provide proof of address i.e. a bank statement, driver license etc.

For persons under-18 a parent or guardian must be present at the time of application as signature is required for under-18 membership.

A Block Loan facility is available for teachers and facilitators of groups. Thirty items can be borrowed for 3 weeks. Guarantors on Block Loan accounts are responsible for all items borrowed under that account.

How many items can you borrow?

Once joined all adults, young people and children can borrow 12 items.

Items can include: Books, DVDs, CDs, Computer Games, Talking Books and Language Packs.

How long can I borrow items for?

All materials can be borrowed for 3 weeks, this period may be extended if the item is not requested by another borrower, either in person, by phone or on-line (using Pin number request this from your library).

Fines have been abolished so if you are late returning, there is no need to worry. However, we encourage timely return of items in the interest of fellow patrons.
