Carlow Library offers a number of online platforms for eLearning – Universal Class, Mango Languages Online and World Book Encyclopaedia Online. Choose from up to 400 different courses, 70 different languages and find reliable, current information on World Book for projects, essays and other research.
eLearning with Universal Class
Universal Class is a FREE Online Continuing Education Service offering 400 educational and leisure courses for our library members. All library members can enrol in up to 5 courses for which you have 6 months to complete each. Each course has a real instructor who you may communicate with using email. eLanguage Learning with Mango
Mango Languages is an online language learning resource that teaches real conversations in over 70 foreign languages. Mango replaces the Transparent Language Online service previously offered through Carlow Library Service.
eReference with World Book
The World Book Web is a suite of online research tools that includes encyclopaedia articles, primary source collections, educator tools, student activities, pictures, audio, and video, complemented by current periodicals and related Web sites. Simply click on the link on the right of the page or the World Book Icon above, enter your library card number and access a world of information.
Vision-net for Business
Vision-net is now available, free of charge, to all Members of Carlow Libraries. To access the service you need to click on the link below and log in using your library card number. Vision-net is an internet based service which gives you immediate online access to information on every Irish and UK company registered. Vision-net.ie provides you with immediate online access to the original documents that companies have filed in the Companies Registration Office. By scrolling through a report you can click on any C.R.O document (filed since 1998) and a scanned image of the actual filed document will appear on your screen which you can then print, view or save.
