Borris is in the south of the county, 18 miles from Carlow and 8 miles from Bagenalstown. The Borris Library Project was sanctioned in August 2009 and construction started in September 2009. This development represents the fourth Library in the County and will allow the community of Borris and its hinterland to avail of a local service.

The library will incorporate adult and children's lending, reference and study facilities. A suite of free public internet access PCs will be provided as well as seating and study tables. Effective use of IT services will allow maximum access to the available resources. The Library represents a community space which is open to all, providing free access to informational, educational, cultural and leisure opportunities.

The library space is located on the ground floor of the Old Schoolhouse, an attractive stone cut building dating from 1832. The Library shares the building with CRISP (Carlow Rural Information Services Project).
